Few things are more frustrating than a garage door that opens fine but refuses to close — or closes halfway and reverses. Arizona dust builds up fast, and a pebble, hardened grease, or a dented spot in the track can stop the rollers from traveling all the way down. Look along both tracks for debris or a bent section.

Your opener has “travel limits” that tell it how far to move the door. If the down-limit is set too far, the door hits the floor, thinks it’s hit an obstacle, and reverses. This often happens after a power outage or as an opener ages.

Sometimes the door itself is fine and the signal is the problem — a dead remote battery, a keypad that lost its code, or a wall button that’s stuck.
